This KVP calculator shows what a Kisan Vikas Patra pays at maturity, when it matures, and roughly what it is worth at the end of each year before that. At the current 7.5% rate, every rupee you invest becomes two after 115 months.
The maturity figure is exact. The year by year values are estimates from yearly compounding; for early encashment, the post office uses its own published table, which can differ slightly.

How the KVP calculator works
KVP has a fixed promise: the maturity value is twice the amount invested. So the main result is simple multiplication. For the years in between, the calculator grows the amount at 7.5% a year:
₹60,000 invested. Year 3 estimate: ₹60,000 × 1.075 × 1.075 × 1.075 = about ₹74,537. At 115 months: ₹1,20,000.
KVP maturity table
| Invested | After 3 years (est.) | After 5 years (est.) | At maturity |
|---|---|---|---|
| ₹10,000 | ₹12,423 | ₹14,356 | ₹20,000 |
| ₹50,000 | ₹62,115 | ₹71,781 | ₹1,00,000 |
| ₹1 lakh | ₹1,24,230 | ₹1,43,563 | ₹2,00,000 |
| ₹5 lakh | ₹6,21,148 | ₹7,17,815 | ₹10,00,000 |

KVP calculator after 2.5 years: early encashment
From 30 months, you may cash the certificate. The post office pays from a schedule for each issue, stepping up every six months. A rough guide is the yearly growth figure from the calculator; the actual table may be a little lower because early encashment carries a small cost. Ask the counter for the exact figure before deciding. More on KVP premature withdrawal.
Planning with several certificates
Instead of one large KVP, some savers buy a smaller certificate every year. Each one doubles on its own date, so from the tenth year onward, one certificate matures every year. With ₹50,000 a year, that becomes ₹1 lakh a year arriving in a steady line. The calculator handles one certificate at a time; simply repeat the result for each purchase year.
Splitting also helps if you need cash early: you can encash one certificate after 30 months without touching the others.
KVP vs NSC calculator: the same ₹1 lakh
Take a five year view: NSC turns ₹1 lakh into ₹1,44,903, marginally ahead of KVP's estimated ₹1,43,563 by then. KVP keeps going and reaches ₹2 lakh at 115 months. If you plan to hold for close to ten years, KVP's doubling is the cleaner target. See the NSC calculator for the comparison.

Roughly 1.44 times the investment at 7.5%, but the certificate continues until it doubles.

The maturity is always double. The months differ by the rate at purchase, which is printed on your receipt.
What is the KVP value after 2.5 years?
Roughly 1.2 times the investment, from the post office's encashment table. Ask at the counter for the exact figure.
